Mr. MadClout

Where are you from and how does that play into your work?

I was born and raised in The Big Easy and  Spent 10+years in Miami.. Being raised in New Orleans I witnessed lots of  art & culture and was inspired by the many  street artists that exhibit their work in The World Famous French Quarter.

How are you different today as an artist/musician than you were 5 years ago?

Five years ago I was basically the same but with out my beautiful  son and wife who  inspire me to continue to push myself towards success and creativity on a daily basis.

What are the  qualities of your favorite artist that you admire the most?

I admire any artist that gives 110% or more every time he or she is involved in their art form.

What attributes help separate you from other artists?

What seperates myself from other artist is my loyalty and devotion to the culture of aerosol writing. In no way am I  saying others dont have the same amount  of dedication and devotion.. I just think that these are  qualities that a lot of cats take for granted. I look at it like this!! If youre gonna be involved in a culture then you should respect it enough to where you want to know everything about its past present and future and will defend it  BY ANY MEANS NEC.!!!!!!

What is the first thing you remember producing?

Man that's a great question the first thing I remember producing  as far as Aerosol Writing was a real bad attempt at a piece.  I cant recall exactly which was the first but the first few years were basically apprenticing under older guys who had already mastered their styles. Now in this day and time I ve produced a lot more then Aerosol Art such as a Clothing Line, Art Shows, Bboy Battles and so forth.

What event or events helped shape your style?

Besides the birth of my children my style has been shaped by older traditional subway painters. You know the guys from the 70's who went to work in the underground and created beautiful masterpieces of art on NY subways while  the rest of the city was sleeping. Since the removal of Aerosol Art off the subways in the late 80's I feel like we as members of the culture should  keep that style alive and of course bring your own flavor to it.

What challenges you?

The systems oppressive laws towards artists of my nature.

What would be the ultimate accomplishment of your
career?

The ultimate accomplishment of my career would be to be able to paint the white house and not get apprehended. Maybe now with OBAMA in office he might be interested??

What hobby do you have  that people wouldn't guess you
are into?

Man I have tons of hobbies, I collect toy trains, vinyl,  art, 70's & 80's memorabilia including boom boxes. I guess the one that most civilians wouldnt guess would be my collection of bikes.

Where is art/music going next?

Art and Music are going no where if we as a collective dont stand up for them both and expose the phonies. A lot of artist think because they use the same medium as an aerosol writer that they have become one. Not true in my eye. I feel the same way about rappers who think they are M.C.s and are yapping over tracks with no lyrical or poetical skills.

I'd like to say peace  and thanks to all  who respect and preserve the culture known as HIP HOP....
