Nate Dee is a Miami-based artist, painter, and muralist known for his figurative paintings and large-scale murals. He was born and raised in South Florida, and his Haitian cultural background is reflected in his use of bold colors and expressive brushwork. While studying fine arts at Florida International University, Nate honed his skills in traditional oil painting techniques, specifically in the ala prima style. Soon after he began creating large-scale murals using exterior paint and spray paint, allowing his artwork to transcend the traditional boundaries of the canvas. Nate's work is characterized by a deep connection to the natural world and at times themes of environmental sustainability and species protection. He also explores the meanings and symbolism that we as people attach to certain animals, often incorporating animal masks into his figurative paintings to symbolize the relationship between the wearer and the subjective meanings attached to the specific animal. In many of his murals he incorporates elements of flora and fauna, creating dynamic juxtapositions between his subjects and the natural environment.
